Hello, I’m Lucy
Hello! I’m a friendly, caring and dedicated BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist who works with children, young people and parents. I bring warmth, playfulness, curiosity and honesty into every session, shaped both by my clinical experience and my own personal journey through therapy.
In therapy, I aim for young people to feel safe enough to be completely themselves, to laugh, question, challenge, reflect, be silly, be curious, and grow. Whatever we’re tackling, I work alongside young people and families with empathy, steadiness and a sense of hope.
A big part of my therapeutic identity comes from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I love CFT because it cuts right to the heart of the things that so often keep young people (and adults!) stuck, shame, guilt, self-criticism and the fear of not being “good enough”. Watching someone learn to soften toward themselves, and seeing the ripple effects that has, is one of my favourite parts of being a therapist.
I also place great importance on working with parents and carers. I’m continually inspired by their commitment to supporting their children, often while managing their own challenges. When parents and carers feel supported and empowered, it benefits the whole family. Drawing on six years of close work with family therapists, I bring a strong systemic perspective to my CBT practice, aiming to create meaningful, lasting change both within the family and beyond the therapy room.
I live in a cosy cottage in Surrey with Sam, my partner, and Velvet, my 10-year-old cocker spaniel, who very confidently considers herself my co-therapist (and she might be right).
A little bit about me
When I’m not in session, you can usually find me at a concert or outside, camping in green fields, exploring nature, reading in a sunny spot, or attempting yoga while Velvet “helps”.
My parents are from Newcastle, so I grew up with a very down-to-earth, “say it how it is” attitude, something that definitely shows up in my therapeutic style. I bring a down-to-earth attitude to my work: honest, open, practical and full of heart.
